Organising for change: how can higher education meet the changing needs of employment

The ACU recognises the huge demands now being placed on higher education to produce graduates capable of meeting the requirements of employment. We also recognise that universities throughout the Commonwealth are producing much good practice in the field, which we believe deserves exposure to a wider audience.

The ACU therefore partnered with Wilton Park, the UK Department for International Development, National Research Foundation (South Africa), and the University of Pretoria to stage this high level international seminar. Delegates included Commonwealth university leaders, expert practitioners, policymakers and donor agencies.

Next steps

Results from the seminar will be circulated to the full ACU membership and will feed into plans for the 20th Conference of Commonwealth Education Ministers (20CCEM) in Fiji in February 2018.

The seminar convened 50 delegates, with 20 coming from ACU member institutions, following a competitive application process.
