Future forward: taking charge of change

This three-day conference will address questions around the Centenary theme Future forward: design, develop, deliver. 

Higher education is at a crossroads. New universities are being created in response to political agendas, the burgeoning global middle class, and the availability of public and private funding. Added to this, a variety of internal and external stakeholders are demanding that universities become more than just ‘ivory towers’ and that they need to demonstrate their engagement with the wider society.

With all these conflicting requirements, has the role and purpose of universities changed? What are the repercussions for higher education? How can institutions harness this change to enhance themselves and their stakeholders?

The Association of Commonwealth Universities’ Centenary Conference will address the theme Future forward: taking charge of change. The three-day conference will engage members and non-members alike in discussions on the impact of universities on civil society, economic growth, and governance, as well as the influence of governments and external stakeholders on universities.

The conference will bring together top academics and high-profile speakers to discuss the role universities play in social and economic development, and help delegates to better understand, promote, and plan for the impact of these changes in higher education.

Post-Conference tour of Oxford

There are a limited number of spaces for delegates to attend a post-conference day tour of Oxford town and university on Saturday 19 October 2013.
