The fifth conference of the Human Resources Management Network

The Association of Commonwealth Universities and the University of Namibia welcome you to the fifth conference of the Human Resource Management Network and the fourth conference of the Public Relations, Marketing and Communications Network which are being held jointly from 14 – 17 October 2012 in Windhoek, Namibia.

The theme of the conference was chosen because of the relevance it has to areas of both Human Resources and Public Relations.  By hosting a joint conference in this way we will be able to address the synergies that exist between these departments and consider the ways in which their common goals and visions can contribute to Realising Dreams:  Personal, Institutional, Global.

The conference aims to maximise learning from best practice in HR and PR in higher education institutions from around the world, encourage reflection and give participants the opportunity to explore topics of interest in depth. It is important that we provide a true learning environment. We are planning for a series of keynote speakers, for smaller groups, and specific workshop sessions devoted to the themes of the conference. These sessions will be structured in such a way that dialogue can be developed between participants.

We would welcome contributions on how the HR and PR functions have made a difference in universities (not only on what has worked, but what hasn’t worked and why). While the challenges may vary from country to country, we are seeking innovative solutions (or ventures) which can be studied and adapted to different circumstances and from which lessons can be learnt.
