Senior Level Engagement Meeting

Location: DoubleTree Hilton Hotel, Hurlingham Nairobi
Dates: 16 April 2018 (11am to 5pm)
Aim: To introduce VCs and University decision makers to the PEBL project and engage them on their needs and requirements for the project.
Attendees: VCs and senior staff from all partner and participating universities
Outcomes: We had a great turn out of VCs and senior staff, the goals and work plan for PEBL were introduced and much positive feedback was received. The Engagement meeting created more interest and support for the project.

Pedagogy workshops

Location: DoubleTree Hilton Hotel, Hurlingham Nairobi
Dates: 17 to 20 April 2018
Aim: To introduce and train module development teams to blended learning pedagogic approaches that may strengthen the development of PEBL modules.
Attendees: Module development teams from all partner universities
Outcomes: Module development teams were given a better understanding of blended learning and were given pedagogic tools to structure their work with. 

QA workshops

Location: DoubleTree Hilton Hotel, Hurlingham Nairobi
Dates: 17 to 20 April 2018
Aim: To introduce and train QA staff on approaches to QA for blended learning and assessing the requirements of QA on PEBL courses.
Attendees: QA staff from all partner and participant universities
Outcomes: QA staff were given tools and more understanding of blended learning for considering the quality assurance of PEBL modules. A number of constructive issues were raised that have strengthened the project and shed light on activities that will be addressed by the project such as accreditation of modules across the target countries.

PEBL sponsored meeting of East African Higher Education Commissions

Location: DoubleTree Hilton Hotel, Hurlingham Nairobi
Dates: August 2018
Aim: To Bring together the higher education commissioners from Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya and Tanzania and discuss common approaches to Quality Assurance for blended learning university courses.
Attendees: Higher education commissioners from Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya and Tanzania

PEBL workshop

PEBL Batch 1 module use workshops

Location: DoubleTree Hilton Hotel, Hurlingham Nairobi
Dates: 8 to 11 October 2018
Aim: Training users on accessing and using Batch 1 modules from OER Africa’s platform, including technical pedagogy aspects of Blended Learning
Attendees: Module lecturers and Academic leads from all partner and participant universities
Outcomes: Lecturers and project leads were trained on accessing and using PEBL module course materials through OER Africa’s online platform.

Developing Blended Learning hand over workshop

Location: Kenyatta University Convention Centre, Nairobi Kenya
Dates: 13 to 18 April 2019
Aim: Training of new trainers from amount local partners that will take on the mantel of teaching the Developing Blended Learning course to the next batch of PEBL module developers.
Attendees: Selected academic leads from partner universities
Outcomes: Hand over of SEDA’s Developing Blended Learning was successfully carried out with new tutors from among local partner institutions.

2019 PEBL Network Meeting

Location: Nobleza Hotel, Kigali Rwanda
Dates: 13 to 16 May 2019
Aim: To bring the PEBL network together and hold meetings of the PEBL committees, finalising selection of Batch 2 modules. Training in QA, developing blended learning and a meeting of the local Higher Education Committees of Tanzania, Kenya and Rwanda to introduce them to the PEBL project. Workshops on teaching in blended learning of two of the Batch 1 modules also took place.
Attendees: PEBL leads, QA staff and lecturers, as well as Higher Education Commissioners. 
Outcomes: Workshops on QA, Blended Learning Module Development and Blended Learning Teaching were successfully carried out with positive feedback. Very productive meetings took place between regional Higher Education Commissions from Rwanda, Kenya and Tanzania.

IPIE workshop: Lecturer training on the use of the Moodle LMS

Location: The Panari Hotel, Nairobi Kenya'
Dates: August 26th to 27th, 2019
Aim: Training of tutors and lecturers on the use of the Moodle LMS to enhance their Blended Learning teaching skills and improve engagement with students over their LMS.
Attendees: Nominated lecturers and tutors from universities within the PEBL and PEDAL networks
Outcomes: TBA

PEBL Network meetings

Following meetings to be scheduled in, 2020 and 2021.
