ACU Gender Programme

The ACU Gender Programme advances gender equity in higher education, through local projects, grants, and advocacy.

For more than 30 years, we have worked to address gender issues – such as championing women in leadership and combating sexual violence on campus – in partnership with our member universities.

Benchmarking

ACU Gender Benchmarking was introduced in order to help universities compare their gender equity/equality provision with other universities.

The survey focuses on four main areas:

  • key positions
  • policies
  • perceptions on provision and
  • implementation

It allows institutions to benchmark their performance in gender equity and gender mainstreaming nationally or internationally.

Participants can produce individualised reports, tables and charts, or use the results to make the case for additional resources or training. Responses of individual institutions will be kept private and anonymous, by allowing benchmarking against aggregated responses.

Martha Farrell Memorial Fellowship

The Martha Farrell Memorial Fellowship is an ACU Fellowship which provides training and support for the fellow to initiate an anti-sexual harassment initiative at their home university. The fellowship offers a one-week training programme hosted by the Martha Farrell Foundation in New Delhi, India. Upon returning to their home universities, the fellows implement an action plan addressing the issue of sexual harassment on campus. The training received offers practical solutions and advice for the implementation of the plans.
