2016 Programme themes, dates and location

The face-to-face workshop was hosted by the University of Adelaide, Australia from 29-31 August 2016

The three themes below were evaluated. 

F246 Branding and marketing

This topic will include social media issues, and will explore how a university can create and maintain its reputation. In particular, it will look at the impact that social media has on recruitment, and student feedback, and examine how effective management can use these ever-evolving features of communication to enhance their university’s reputation, as well as comparing how universities create their brand to maximise their strong points.

F247 Students as co-creators

This topic will explore how universities can work with students as co-creators and partners in quality enhancement and innovation for curriculum, and for learning and teaching. The topic will look at how governance and other structures can enhance the student voice and more actively involve students in shaping the learning experience. It will also look at the role of third parties in collaborative ventures such as MOOCs etc. It will explore the role of students in strategic change at both course and institutional levels, and address issues such as ownership of IP.

F248 Alumni and development funding

This topic will explore how a university can make the most of the relationships established with its students via alumni associations, and how it might maximise its efforts at raising development funding without alienating its potential donors. While linking back to the first topic of the year, it will also address issues such as the need for common standards of reporting, and institutional coherence in developing and maintaining contacts.
