Join the ACU Research, Knowledge and Information Community Study Tour

Published on 27 March 2015

To mark the launch of the ACU Research, Knowledge and Information (RKI) Community at the ACU-SARIMA Conference in May, the ACU is inviting members to attend a study tour in Johannesburg, South Africa. From 14-15 May 2015, participants will visit the University of Pretoria, the University of Johannesburg, and the University of the Witwatersrand before coming together on 16 May to discuss their conclusions and form future action plans.

The tour, working to the title of 'Supporting research across the institution', will investigate how the three universities approach the task of supporting research activities of their academic colleagues. Taking in the research management offices and the university libraries, the tour will explore how staff within these departments go about their day to day work, how they liaise with each other and how they interact with the university community in general, all in the name of aiding and advancing academic research efforts.

The ACU RKI Community invites all those working to increase and improve research, communications and delivery methods in higher education to share their experiences and discuss upcoming opportunities. Bringing together colleagues from across Commonwealth universities to discuss how to best support the work of academic researchers, the ACU RKI Community will provide an avenue for discussion and debate to further the development of the supportive university professional. This study tour will provide an ideal opportunity to start the conversation.
