Earlier this week, the ACU successfully launched the third of its new Member Communities at the Houses of Parliament in London, UK.

The event saw academics, staff and students come together to hear all about the new ACU Internationalisation Community, with speeches from Joyce Achampong, the ACU’s Director of External Engagement, and Dr Christopher Hill, Director of Research Training and Academic Development at the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus.

The ACU Internationalisation Community joins two Member Communities launched earlier in the year:

• The ACU Engage Community – For those involved in university community engagement and outreach, including university public engagement staff, industrial liaison officers, research uptake managers and communication officers.
• The ACU Research, Knowledge and Information (RKI) Community – For those who support and encourage, but don’t directly engage in, the research process, including those working in libraries and information, as well as research management and administration.

Structured around key themes in higher education, each Community encourages discussion, cooperation and knowledge sharing between ACU members. These groups will enable the ACU to learn more about the unique settings, challenges, successes and developments taking place among its members, as well as disseminating findings from the organisation’s scholarships, projects and programmes.

‘This issues-based approach, addressing key institutional challenges, aims to provide platforms to showcase good practice and actions to help members grow their activities in a variety of interconnected areas, better reflecting the university of today’, says Joyce Achampong.

The communities operate through an online forum, supported with dedicated publications, blogs, news, and events.
