Reports launched at CHOGM

Published on 27 October 2011

Commonwealth Scholars and Fellows have been able to gain skills and knowledge which they have taken back to their home countries and used to support activity in different areas of importance to their countries and the Commonwealth as a whole.

These are the latest findings of the evaluation programme of the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK (for which the ACU provides the secretariat), published for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) being held in Perth, Australia, this weekend.

Two reports have been launched. The first, Assessing impact in building and sustaining Commonwealth principles on democracy, looks at how alumni have been active in areas relating to democracy – a key principle at the heart of the Commonwealth – including constructive international relations, protection of human rights, and assistance in humanitarian crises.

Assessing impact in the Asia-Pacific, the second report, considers how Commonwealth Scholars and Fellows are making a positive impact on issues such as climate change and economic growth, which affect the whole region and beyond.
