Countdown to CHOGM

Countdown to CHOGM

Published on 10 April 2018

The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) opens in London next week, 16 -20 April, and the ACU will be in attendance, representing our members at key meetings and events. The purpose of this meeting, which is held every two years, is to bring together leaders to reaffirm our common values and address the shared global challenges we face.

The theme of the summit is ‘Towards a common future’ with a particular focus on young people and how we can create a better future for all our citizens. As well as the main leaders’ discussions there are forums for ‘people’, ‘business’, ‘women’ and ‘youth’.

Dr Joanna Newman, Chief Executive and Secretary General of the ACU, will be attending CHOGM and participating in several key panel discussions and forums over the week exploring innovation, access to education and mobility.

We will be tweeting, reporting and posting news stories over the next two weeks to keep you updated on what’s happening during CHOGM and the role the ACU is playing as an advocate for higher education across the Commonwealth.
