ACU launches new Peace and Reconciliation Fellowships

Published on 10 April 2019

The ACU is launching two new Peace and Reconciliation Fellowships, designed to facilitate collaboration and support the role of universities in truth-telling and reconciliation in their communities and beyond.

Each fellowship offers funding of up to £5000 GBP, enabling staff from ACU member universities to travel to another ACU member overseas for a period of research or collaboration, linked to the aims of the Peace and Reconciliation network, including:

  • Decolonisation
  • Human rights
  • Indigenous studies
  • Peace and post-conflict studies
  • Reconciliation
  • Transformative justice

These fellowships support staff engaged in research, institutional reform and those developing new approaches to teaching and learning.

Applications for the Peace and Reconciliation Fellowships are now open and close on Wednesday 8 May.

About the ACU Peace and Reconciliation network

The Peace and Reconciliation network brings together Commonwealth universities who work in the field of peace, truth, justice and reconciliation, facilitating collaborations across research, teaching and learning and institutional reform. It includes three working groups on the themes of teaching and learning, research, and institutional reform.

The network's first meeting took place at University of Melbourne in October 2018.

Work under development includes a multi-country comparative analysis of Reconciliation action plans and access policies, and an assessment of the status of teaching, learning and institutional practice around Peace and Reconciliation at ACU member universities throughout the Commonwealth.

Membership is open to any academic, student, or professional staff working in a field linked to peace and reconciliation at any ACU member university. To register your interest in the network, please email [email protected]
