Rolph Payet to give keynote at Residential School

The Seychellois Minister for Environment and Energy, H.E. Professor Rolph Payet, will deliver the keynote speech at the third Commonwealth Residential School when it convenes at Cumberland Lodge between 8-12 August 2013.

The ACU celebrates its Centenary in 2013 and the theme for this year’s Residential School will invite delegates to look to the future and consider what the world might be like in a hundred years’ time. As a leading international expert on the environment, Professor Rolph Payet will be able to draw on his two decades of academic and civil service experience to focus on the likely threats, challenges and opportunities facing the planet over the next one hundred years.

Professor Rolph Payet was Special Advisor to the President of the Republic of Seychelles on numerous environmental matters including sustainable development, biodiversity, climate change, energy, and international environment policy. He was also Lead Author with the IPCC when it was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007, he was selected as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2007, and is a former Commonwealth Scholar.
