Centenary Conference: Registration open

Published on 10 July 2013

Registration is now open for the ACU Centenary Conference, which will take place at Senate House, London, from 16-18 October 2013 under the theme Future forward: taking charge of change.

The conference will bring together an internationally diverse blend of top academics and speakers to discuss the role universities play in social and economic development, and will leave delegates better positioned to understand, promote, and plan for change in the higher education sector.

The Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Rt Hon Kamalesh Sharma, will open the conference, with the philanthropist and entrepreneur Dr Mo Ibrahim later speaking in a plenary session on governance and leadership. Day two of the programme features speakers from India, the West Indies, Australia and England and, fittingly, concludes with the Conference Banquet at the world-famous Kia Oval Cricket Ground. The Rt Hon Charles Clarke, former UK Home Secretary and Minister for Education & Skills, will feature on the third day as he chairs a debate on whether universities have lost control of their own destiny.

Delegates are also invited to attend the post-conference tour of the city of Oxford and its university on Saturday 19 October.

Further details regarding bursaries, accommodation and speakers can be found at www.acu.ac.uk/london-2013 and delegates are strongly encouraged to register before 2 August to take advantage of the early bird rates.
