12 new executive heads appointed to ACU Council

Published on 21 August 2013

Following elections held earlier in the year, executive heads from ACU member universities representing each of the major regions of the Commonwealth have been appointed to the ACU Council, the body that governs the Association of Commonwealth Universities.

Whilst several members of the 2013-2015 ACU Council are serving their second terms, the majority are newly appointed and they include Cheryl de la Rey (University of Pretoria) and Dinesh Singh (University of Delhi) both of whom will be speaking at the forthcoming ACU Centenary Conference in October.

The Secretary General of the ACU, Professor John Wood, spoke of his delight at the composition of the Council: ‘As the overall governing body of the ACU, the Council is collectively responsible for overseeing the ACU’s activities and determining its future direction. We are therefore delighted to have such an experienced and diverse set of university executive heads serving over the next two years.’

Professor Wood will formally welcome the ACU Council members at the ACU Centenary Conference. The Council will meet in London prior to the conference when, inter alia, officers of the Council for the 2013-2015 period will be appointed.
