2014 ACU Titular Fellows announced

We are delighted to announce the winners of the 2014 ACU Titular Fellowships. The Fellowships, awarded to academic staff at fully-subscribed ACU member institutions, will be held between October 2014 and September 2015.

The Gordon and Jean Southam Fellowship has been awarded to Dr Juliet Daniel at McMaster University, Canada. Her collaborative research at The University of the West Indies, Barbados, is part of a wider project which aims to identify the genetic determinants that contribute to breast cancer in women of African ancestry. The visit will focus on the collection of tissue and demographic data from Barbadian women with triple negative breast cancer.

The Jacky McAleer Memorial Fellowship has been awarded to Ammar Zia ud Din at COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Pakistan. His fellowship at Lancaster University, UK, will explore IT processes and systems used in university administration, including the computerisation of records, methods of data collection and management, and computer assisted learning.

The University of Swansea Fellowship has been awarded to Dr Zubaidah Ismail at the University of Malaya, Malaysia. His study at Swansea University, UK, will explore new approaches to the condition monitoring of rotary machinery and components.

The University of Manitoba Fellowship has been awarded to Joan Ostaskiewicz at Deakin University, Australia. Her work at the University of Manitoba, Canada, will explore methods for conducting research into the promotion of quality continence care for older adults living in care homes globally, and those with bladder, bowel, and pelvic floor disorders.

The Wighton Titular Fellowship in Engineering has been awarded to Hong-Ngee Lim at the Universiti Putra Malaysia. Her research at the University of Bath, UK, will focus on techniques of biomolecule immobilisation for immunosensing.

The Worshipful Company of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales Fellowship has been awarded to Fidelis Okwuosa at the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. His work at Valley View University, Ghana, will explore the development of an accounts reconciliation solution aimed at improving financial management processes at his home institution.
