TT races (last weekend of June)

Each year, the TT races during the last weekend of June put Assen on the international map. In the run-up to the races, Assen becomes a Mecca for motorcyclists. Meadows are transformed into friendly campsites. Three days of festivities take place in the city centre. Dozens of countries televise the races.

Superbike World Championship

The Superbike World Championship is equally spectacular and the number of visitors it attracts almost matches that of the TT. The circuit is a hive of activity with 550.000 visitors a year. The various races, and definitely the Truckstar Festival are crowd pullers. The arrival of TT World only serves to enhance the circuit’s appeal. The multipurpose TT Hall organises activities like concerts, fairs, parties and congresses.

Drents museum

The Drents museum is well known for its archaeological expositions. The museum’s cooperation with Dutch and international organisations enables it to bring unique exhibitions to Assen. The permanent collection makes a visit worthwhile. The museum is actually being renovated and reopened at the end of 2011.

Axis theater festival (September)
